United Naval Forces

The UNF is a conglomerate of naval hardware and personnel volunteered by a number of participating Independent Worlds. The organisation is less than twenty years old, but has seen substantial increases in strength and members since 2611.

As of 2617, Joyle Lynch acts as Fleet Admiral.

 

The Honour of the Knights [Toggle Spoilers]

When Dragon was rediscovered and found wandering uninhabited systems in the declared independent space, the United Naval Forces volunteered two starfighter carriers to Operation Menelaus, fearing that the Pandorans might be making ready to commence their push beyond Mitikas.

Grendel and Grendel's Mother were sent to Aster to assist Griffin, Leviathan and Ifrit in reacquiring the battleship from the enemy, captaincy of the two vessels falling to Edward Silverthorne and Sima Mandeep respectively.

When the operation failed and Grendel was destroyed, killing all serving crew members, the UNF launched an investigation (the Menelaus Commission Report) to discover the steps leading up to the ship's loss and provide answers to the families and worlds of the crew that had been volunteered. Relationships between the UNF and CSN were soured for a time, but ultimately put aside when it was concluded that the enemy were always going to prove a difficult adversary to face.

 

The Third Side [Toggle Spoilers]

The UNF was put under considerable strain when the Pandorans commenced their advancement out of Mitikas and into independent space, striking a number of star systems bordering imperial space.

During the battle in Coyote, the UNF fleet was lead by Jennifer Bailey, who undertook captaincy of Talos.

Command of the fleet was later transferred to Adrian Parsons, who had been charged with seeing through Operation Sudarberg to completion. The UNF lost a considerable number of vessels during the battle, including Grendel's Mother.

Insignia

The UNF insignia as of 2617. The circular emblem takes inspiration from the Knights of the Round table, where there is no clear head of the union. The outer spheres represent current members, whilst the empty places invite more to join. A number of places are left open in gesture that there is always room for new members.
