The Bastone was one of the two frigates that was said to be escorting Dragon into the Aster system. Like the Crow's Foot, it did not arrival with Dragon and jumped in sometime later. It was destroyed during Operation Menelaus by Anthony Hawke, when he brought Ifrit up the field to intercept its attempted ambush of Griffin. It was believed (but never proven) by David Turner to have been unmanned and being operated remotely, to serve as part of the continued deception of Hawke's loyalty to the CSN.
