The Bondsman was one of a convoy of starships that made their way into imperial space to perform final intelligence gathering about the Pandoran army. The Bondsman, along with other members of the convoy, was ambushed by a Pandoran strike team in early 2617, as it attempted to jump back to independent space.

Natalia Grace was the sole surviving crew member, using an escape pod to reach the jumpgate the Bondsman had been making for.
