Hibernator

A hibernator is a special type of sleep module found on starships and is far more common than S.A. Modules. A hibernator slows its occupant's heart rate and metabolism down to a point where respiration (and therefore energy expenditure) is totally minimised. The occupant therefore needs no food or water, and only oxygen to survive.

A human being with no health problems can survive for many months in the hibernator, either until the oxygen in the system runs out or eventual starvation claims them. Unlike S.A. Modules, the hibernators allow people to dream and age.

The Honour of the Knights [Toggle Spoilers]

Natalia Grace used a hibernator in her escape pod, after fleeing from the Pandoran forces that attacked the Bondsman. She dreamed while under the hibernator's control and spent three weeks sleeping, until she was rescued by Cratos.
