Rice flew many patrols around Alba, leading the Eightballers, to watch for any attacks or scouting activity by the Pandoran fleet. He later fought a number of battles against the Kingdom of Tzac when they invaded the system. He lost his squadron when, during a battle against Tzac forces, INF Burnside jumped into the system, along with considerable fighter support. His life was saved by the arrival of the White Knights, although they came too late to save the rest of the Eightballers.
