The Attribute of the Strong [Toggle Spoilers]

Gabriel was invaded by the Pandoran fleet in 2622, going against their traditionally systematic approach. The attack was in response to a number of citizens of Helios and displaced members of Independent nations fleeing there.

The system was intended to serve as a route for a number of peoples fleeing Rex, including the Taylor family. All perished when the system was attacked, despite a heavy military presence by the allied forces, including the availability of an ATAF.
