A jumpgate is a structure that allows and supports the creation of jumpspace conduits. They are primarily used by vessels that don't possess the ability to create their own jump points (such as shuttles, civilian craft, some cargo ships, and starfighters).

The gates themselves vary in size, from 50 meters in diameter at the smallest, to close to 1 kilometre at the largest. Gates of 50 and 1,000 meters, however, are extremely rare.
