Plasma Accelerator

Unlike standard plasma type weapons, a Plasma Accelerator concentrates a continuous beam of plasma energy directly at a target. The power of the beams vary, but the effect is none-the-less always the same: massive damage to the target.

Small vessels, such as starfighters, will almost certainly be destroyed immediately. Medium sized heavily damaged or even cleaved in to. Larger vessels, such as battleships and carriers, can survive single and even repeated attacks, but be put out of commission for several weeks.

Because of the large amounts of power required by the weapon, they are generally only found on space stations, defence platforms and capital ships. The greatest number of accelerators equipped on a single vessel is 8, mounted on the bow, aft and starboard of Dragon.
