Orbital Ring

An orbital ring is a megastructure that wraps itself around a planet in a geostationary orbit, offering both habitation and military benefits. The rings vary in size, with some leaning more toward military application than others. The rings are fairly uncommon, as the cost of construction must be weighed up against the benefits.

Earth, Kethlan and Xalan all have rings in place; although as of 2617, Xalan's has halted construction. Some worlds, such as Al-Elfia have refused to have a ring constructed, despite being very affluent, as there is too much concern from residents that the presence of one could increase the military interests of the CSN.
